Adventures in Pattern Mixing

Cute modest clothing outfit pattern mixing

I've been wanting to take risks with my clothing lately (and what is this whole blog if not an experiment in risk taking?), so I decided to take some baby steps into pattern mixing, and this is the result. I wore my beloved graphic fair isle sweater paired with a neutral shirt (light teal to match the blue detail in the sweater) and a black and grey jersey zig-zag striped pencil skirt. Matching a more complex pattern (the fair isle) with a simple pattern (the stripes) in the same colorway is an easy way to start pattern mixing without looking too busy or odd. I got lots of compliments on this outfit when I wore it, and I can't wait to try pattern mixing again! Have you ever considered mixing patterns as a way to refresh your wardrobe and experiment with cute, modest fashion?

Meet Sarah

Even after over 15 years of blogging I still never know how to start these things- which is pretty embarrassing to admit -but I feel like an introduction post is kind of necessary anyway.

So.

Ahem.

My name is Sarah, and this is my modest fashion blog, Dressed In My Tuesday Best. I've been toying with the idea of starting a blog like this for a few years now, but always found reasons to stop myself ("you're too fat" "your clothing isn't fancy enough" etc. etc.). Then this semester for one of my classes at school I needed to start a website, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to swallow my pride and take a shot at doing something scary and awesome (plus I would have the incentive of getting a good grade to help me along).

I'm a 26 year old web development and design student, administrative assistant, Mormon housewife, cat lady, opera singer, nail polish junkie, sci-fi nerd, and cardigan addict. I dress modestly because it makes me feel good about myself, and because it shows respect for the body that my Heavenly Father gave me. I hope that by posting what I wear, along with affiliate links to super-cute-but-still-definitely-modest clothing, I can help other young women who have the same values find stylish options. Dressing modestly doesn't mean that you have to layer a shade shirt under everything (believe me girls- I've been there and done that and still have to fight the urge to slap a WonderTee under everything I own). There are affordable, adorable options out there if you just do a little digging and think outside the box♥
